Preserving Greenburgh’s history and bringing its legacy to life.
Why it matters
History lives here.
Greenburgh’s Black history reaches from the families who built lives in Fairview and Parkway Gardens to artists, educators, entrepreneurs, and national figures whose contributions still shape the community. The Greenburgh Black History Museum Initiative invites people to experience the legacy through a free, accessible traveling exhibition, oral-history archive, and digital museum that keep those stories in public view and within reach of future generations.

One museum, three connected experiences
History you can see, hear, and explore.
The initiative brings the collection into physical spaces, preserves living memory, and creates a public digital home for the stories. This archive is growing. Bookmark this page and return for new voices, exhibitions, and ways to experience the legacy.
Traveling exhibition
Interpretive panels, archival images, and digital media bring Greenburgh’s Black history first into the library and then to community venues that request the exhibition.
Oral-history archive
Firsthand testimony from Black elders of Fairview and Parkway Gardens will be recorded, transcribed, and permanently preserved to professional standards.
Digital museum
A free online museum will connect biographical stories, archival photographs, oral-history media, and expanded content that visitors can reach through QR codes.

Oral History Program
Support the equipment and professional guidance needed to record, preserve, and archive elders’ testimony.
Digital Museum
Build the free online home and QR-linked content that make the collection available beyond a single room.
Youth Heritage Corps
Help local young people learn curation and oral-history practice alongside museum-studies graduate students.
Accessible Materials
Fund English- and Spanish-language guides, along with large-print materials that welcome more visitors.
Community Programs
Bring the history to life through public forums, artist talks, and visits with local schools.
A sponsorship shaped with you
Experience the legacy today. Help build a permanent home for Greenburgh’s Black history tomorrow.
The Museum is already alive in libraries, community spaces, and online. Sponsorship helps preserve the stories now while moving us toward a permanent home where generations can gather, learn, and see themselves in Greenburgh’s history.
